FIRST REHEARSAL –  MAGIC!

Tuesday, March 29, 2016.  The cast of “Sweet Emmaline” meet for the first time and the process of bringing “The Musical Journey of Debbie McDade” to life begins!

Introductions are made –- Sarah Sanders (Mama Blue) as Debbie McDade, Soranda Louis as Amanda and Curtis Tucker as the voice-over artist

meet the Technical Director, Tom Mangan, and A Classic Theatre VP, Anne Kraft. Director/Playwright Deborah Dickey passes out the scripts.

The energy in the room is high and as always, there is a tinge of nerves giving an electric edge to everyone as instructions are given and the initial “read-through” begins! (A first rehearsal is devoted to reading the script aloud, just sitting at a table to get a feel for the material.)

After the first page it is obvious that magic is happening!  Sarah and Soranda make a strong connection to each other.  And although standing only 4’11” tall, Sarah has an enormous, bright personality and makes a dynamic personal connection with the role of “Debbie.”

The nerves now settle into the enjoyment of hearing “Debbie’s” story… discovering the music, the names and the facts of another time that make up “The Musical Journey of Debbie McDade.”

And so begins our journey….
