First Coast Opera and ACT bring you a World Premiere!

The first act of this production (Cox and Box) brings audiences a classic Victorian farce written by Arthur Sullivan, of Gilbert and Sullivan fame, in which two gentlemen unknowingly rent and live in the same apartment. When the landlord’s ruse is uncovered, Mr. Cox and Mr. Box discover that they share other things, including a past fiancée, Penelope Ann.

Act 2 is a World Premiere written by First Coast Opera's Artistic Director Curtis Tucker, and Nelson Sheeley. The story continues, ten years later, in Penelope Ann’s Revenge. In the new operetta, Penelope Ann returns to put the two men in their proper places.  With the typical twists, turns, accusations, revelations, and hilarity of the best British farces, the apparent conflicts turn to a happy ending with a surprises along the way.

The cast for this production consists of Tyler Putnam as Cox, Curtis Tucker as Box, Jason Whitfield is Sergeant Bouncer, Sarah Nordin is Lydia and Catherine Ortega Spitzer is Penelope. Musical Director and Pianist is Curtis Powell with Nelson Sheeley as Stage Director.
