In Laura Wade’s award-winning play Home, I’m Darling, Judy and Johnny live an idyllic 1950s life—complete with vintage décor, traditional gender roles, and a deep commitment to domestic bliss. Judy takes pride in being the perfect housewife, while Johnny heads off to work each day. But beneath the polished surface of their picture-perfect world, tensions simmer as financial strains and personal doubts begin to challenge their carefully curated lifestyle. This sharp, witty comedy explores the cost of nostalgia and the complexities of choosing a life that looks perfect on the outside.
Actors will be asked to read selections from the play.
The characters of Judy, Johnny, Fran, and Marcus enjoy jive music and dancing, so please be prepared to show your moves on the dance floor if you are reading for these roles! Although none of characters need to be expert dancers, they do need to exude their enjoyment of the genre.
If you have any questions or have conflicts with the audition dates, please contact Dawn Knipe at dawn@aclassictheatre.org.
