COMFORT & CHEER
A COMMUNITY FUNDRAISER FOR
A CLASSIC THEATRE
Favorite local performers have come together to present Comfort & Cheer – a program of seasonal stories, songs, poems, and more – for one performance only on December 16, 2018, at 2 p.m. at 2085 A1A South, Unit #105.
Performers include Shari Little, Margaret Kaler, Guy Tillis, Katie Timoney, Natalie Beltrami, Jennifer Latka, and others. Holiday refreshments will be served.
Comfort & Cheer is a theater-community based fundraiser in support of A Classic Theatre. ACT is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing classic, historic and original works to the St. Augustine theater scene. Recent productions include Intimate Apparel, Lysistrata, Democracy and its Demise, and 1984.

A CLASSIC THEATRE ELECTS NEW PRESIDENT
St. Augustine, FL __A Classic Theatre announces the election of Kathryn Masters as the new President of its Board of Directors effective September 1, 2017. ACT founder Jean Rahner is stepping down from her long tenure in this position, but she will continue to be an active member of the Board lending her valuable expertise and insight to the non-profit theater organization.
Kate joined A Classic Theatre in 2014, served in numerous roles - on and off stage - and became a member of the Board in 2016. Outside the theater, Kate is an attorney with her own law practice in St. Augustine, Masters Legal, P.A. Her areas of expertise are Consumer Law & Bankruptcy; Wills, Trusts & Estate Planning; and Probate & Trust Administration. Kate also serves as Secretary of the Board of Directors for the St. Johns Cultural Council, a non-profit agency devoted to developing arts, culture, and heritage in our community.

DICKEY Play Onstage in Panama!
Adventure in Panamá from Page to Stage

Arriving in Panamá on July 29, my husband Jerry and I were met at the airport by our dynamic host and sponsor, Márcia Henry. Swept up into the afternoon traffic of Panama City, the conversation was just as fast-paced and non-stop as the cars and buses we darted in and out of on our trip to our hotel. Márcia is the founder of The Marcia L. Henry Foundation and we soon learned that when Marcia wants something to happen, no one can say no. I first met Márcia, at the Afro-Antilliano Museum in Panama City two years ago, and when she contacted me this past spring to direct my play, Threads of Silver and Gold: Women of the Panama Canal, as a fundraiser for her Foundation, I knew I would soon be on my way to Panamá.
Having the opportunity to have my play produced by A Classic Theatre in St. Augustine was an unforgettable experience with members of the very family I had written about seated in the audience, along with many others who had been born or grown up in Panamá. Now, the play would be put to the test with Panamanian citizens in the audience and onstage. The hospitality of the people I met was incredible, and we were introduced at a meeting of the American Society of Panama made up of long-time residents and newcomers, including a young couple who had moved there from Washington, D.C. only one week before!
Many rehearsals were held at the American School, where we recruited the American Corner library coordinator as our Narrator, and the actors shared memories of their own experiences in Panamá. To my delight, several cast members began comparing stories in the play to stories they had heard from family members. Ines Sealy, an expert on West Indian culture, was perfectly cast as the grandmother in Act 2 and gave me many insights into her role, enriching my stories with specific cultural observations of her own.
When we opened on Saturday, August 6 at the Theatre Guild of Ancon, the play was enthusiastically embraced by all involved. Márcia had recruited an army of support for the work and, most importantly, her Foundation’s efforts to instill self-esteem, ethics and social skills in young women in Panamá received well-deserved exposure in the community. As for me, I am left with wonderful memories and many new friends from a beautiful country full of dynamic women possessing a great pride in their heritage and culture

A finalist for a Pulitzer Prize in Drama, “Love Letters” chronicles the hopes and ambitions, dreams and disappointments, victories and defeats – that have passed between them throughout the 50 years of their separated lives.
Directed by Anne Kraft, “Love Letters” will have four performances, Sunday May 7 at 2:00pm, and Monday-Wednesday, May 8-10 at 7:30pm at the Gamache-Koger Theater in the Flagler College Ringhaver Student Center, 50 Sevilla Street, downtown St. Augustine.

Annie Gaybis has a long list of stage, TV, and film credits as an actress/singer/dancer from Broadway to Las Vegas, with many stops in-between supporting local organizations in Palm Coast and St. Augustine. Trained and mentored by Shelly Winters, Annie has appeared with such stars as Placido Domingo, Michael Feinstein, Micheal Buble, Joel Grey, Burt Reynolds, John Raitt, Kevin Costner, Eddie Murphy, Dolly Parton, Rodney Dangerfield, the incomparable vocalist Frank Sinatra Jr. and the gifted John Byner.
Peter Gutierrez has worked in several top rated radio stations as an On-Air talent, Newscaster and voice -over actor in commercials and several projects for the Cartoon Network. As a theater actor, Peter was a member of both the Miami Repertory Theatre in Miami, FL and The Centre Stage Players in Greenville, South Carolina. Locally he has been seen at the Limelight Theatre as Mr. Saunders in "Lend Me A Tenor" and Horace Vandergelder in "Hello Dolly." This project marks Peter's fourth collaboration with Ms. Gaybis, having appeared with her in Tennessee Williams’ "Suddenly Last Summer" for the Palm Coast Arts Foundation, in Neil Simon’s "Chapter Two" for The Flagler Auditorium 25th Anniversary celebration and "The Rain Maker" at Palm Coast City Repertory Theatre.
